Bra Size Conversion Chart: US, UK, EU, FR and AU Sizes

US, UK, EU, French and Australian bra sizes from four brands' own charts, past DD up to a UK L cup, with sister sizes and the rows where the charts disagree.

The bra that fits is a 40G from an American store, and the one you want next is on a British site whose size menu runs E, F, FF, G. Clicking the same letter feels safe, but on the brand charts below a UK G is a US I, two cups bigger than the bra in your drawer. Here are the band and cup conversions as four bra brands print them, written out past DD to the letters where US and UK stop matching, with the rows where those charts disagree marked rather than smoothed over.

The short answer

US UK EU FR AU
36DDD 36E 80F 95F 14E
38G 38F 85G 100G 16F
40H 40FF 90H 105H 18FF
42I 42G 95I 110I 20G
44J 44GG 100J 115J 22GG
46K 46H 105K 120K 24H

The whole table is read off one chart, Elomi’s international size guide on its US site. The sections below convert band and cup separately, and mark where other brands print a different letter.

Start from a size that fits

A conversion only carries over a size you already trust, so take it from a bra that fits and note which country’s sizing it was sold in. If nothing fits, measure first; the tape method and fit check are in how do i measure my bra size. Then convert the band number, convert the cup letter, and check the result against the brand’s own chart on the site you are ordering from.

Band sizes

The band is the easy half: US and UK bands carry the same numbers on all three band charts here.

The charts that print a row print the same numbers in it. Curvy Kate’s band chart runs 28 to 46, Bravissimo’s US conversion page 28 to 40 (its European column is headed Germany, Spain and Italy), and Elomi’s 32 to 48. Across the rows, EU is five more per two-inch band step, French is EU plus 15, and AU is the band minus 22 (our arithmetic).

The order of cup letters

The three systems count up differently, which is why letters drift apart.

  • UK: D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, J, JJ, K, KK, L on Bravissimo’s chart. Doubled letters follow from FF, and there is no I.
  • US: AA, A, B, C, D, DD, DDD, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O on Wacoal America’s chart for Elomi, Freya and Fantasie bras. No E and no F.
  • EU: single letters, one per step: D, E, F, G, H, I and on to Q on Bravissimo’s chart.

Australia uses the UK letters on the Elomi and Curvy Kate charts. Bravissimo’s cup chart has an Italy column, and it also carries the UK letters.

The four charts give the same US letter for each UK size from FF to K. They differ in what they call the cups just after DD: Elomi and Wacoal America print plain DD and DDD, while Curvy Kate and Bravissimo add E and F as second names, and Bravissimo writes the US equivalent of a UK F as DDDD/G.

Where US and UK letters split

At D the letter is the same in every column of the tables above. After that:

  • E and F mean different cups. A US E, where a chart prints one, is DD/E, a UK DD. A UK E is one cup bigger, a US DDD. A US F (DDD/F) is a UK E, while a UK F is a US G.
  • From G the gap widens. A UK G is a US I, a UK H is a US K, and a UK K is a US O. By K the same letter is four cups apart (our arithmetic from the table).
  • The ends of the charts are not the same. Wacoal America and Curvy Kate stop at UK K, Elomi goes to KK (US P), and Bravissimo to L (US Q).

Country sites matter at this end too. Elomi’s US site describes its lingerie and swimwear as using “US underband and cup sizing, offering an array of sizes from a B – O cup”, while its rest-of-world site says “UK underband and cup sizing, offering an array of sizes from a D – KK cup”. The two pages carry the same conversion chart, so check which letters the size menu uses on the site you are ordering from.

This is where the brand charts disagree. Elomi and Bravissimo put a UK G at a European I. Curvy Kate’s EU column has no I: it goes from H straight to J, so from UK G upward its European letter is one higher than the other two charts. A UK 38G is an EU 85I on Elomi’s chart and an EU 85J on Curvy Kate’s. On a European size menu, the brand’s own UK G row tells you which pattern it follows. Bravissimo’s cup chart has no French column.

Sister sizes

A sister size keeps the cup and moves the band. Bravissimo’s sister size guide puts the rule plainly: “If you’re going up a cup size, you need to go down a back size”. Its example: 34FF “is the same size in the cups as both 32G and 36F.”

Its sister size chart uses UK letters and runs bands 30 to 44. For a 44F, the row is 44F, 42FF, 40G, 38GG, 36H, 34HH and 32J.

Convert into the right country’s letters first, then move along the row: one cup up from a UK F is FF, one cup up from its US equivalent, G, is H, and the US table above lists FF and H as the same cup. Asked whether a sister size feels the same, Bravissimo’s answer is “Not always”: a tighter or looser band can change how the bra feels and supports you.

How to use these tables

  • US size up to DD, buying UK: the letter and band carry across unchanged (Wacoal America’s chart prints the same letters from AA to DD).
  • US DDD, DDDD or G and up, buying UK: use the US to UK table. US DDD is UK E on all four charts, and US G is UK F (Bravissimo writes it DDDD/G).
  • UK size, buying from a European chart: convert the band (UK 40 is EU 90), then check the brand’s UK G row to see whether it follows the Elomi and Bravissimo pattern or Curvy Kate’s.
  • Shopping in Australia: keep the UK cup letter and take 22 off the band (Elomi and Curvy Kate charts).
  • Band too loose or too tight in a style that otherwise fits: use the sister size row, in the letters of the site you are buying from.

Before you order

  • Use the chart on the site you are buying from. The EU columns above disagree from UK G up.
  • Look up every letter past D. Carrying it across unchanged turns a US G into a UK G, two cups too big.
  • Check that the converted size is on the menu. A row on a conversion chart is not a size in stock; the charts here stop at UK K, KK or L.
  • Read the returns page before paying, especially when ordering from a site in another country.

The other measuring and conversion walkthroughs are in size guides.

Where these numbers come from

The band, cup and sister size rows are copied from the size guides Elomi (US and rest-of-world sites), Curvy Kate, Bravissimo (US site) and Wacoal America publish, read on 1 October 2026; Bravissimo’s charts are images, transcribed by hand. The EU, French and Australian band offsets and the cup gaps are our arithmetic from those tables.

Frequently asked questions

What is a US DDD in UK bra sizes?

A UK E. Elomi, Curvy Kate, Bravissimo and Wacoal America all put a US DDD next to a UK E; Curvy Kate and Bravissimo print the US size as DDD/F. The band number stays the same, so a US 40DDD is a UK 40E, and on the Elomi, Curvy Kate and Bravissimo charts it is an EU 90F.

Is a UK F the same as a US F?

No. A UK F is a US G on the Elomi, Curvy Kate and Wacoal America charts, and a US DDDD/G on Bravissimo's. Where a chart's US column uses F at all, as Curvy Kate's and Bravissimo's do in DDD/F, it sits next to a UK E, one cup smaller.

What is my sister size?

Go down one band and up one cup, or up one band and down one cup. On Bravissimo's sister size chart, which uses UK letters, 34FF has the same cups as 32G and 36F, and 44F sits in a row with 42FF, 40G, 38GG, 36H, 34HH and 32J. Convert to the right country's letters first, then move along the row.

What is a 36 band in EU, French and Australian sizes?

EU 80 and French 95 on the Elomi, Curvy Kate and Bravissimo charts, and Australian 14 on the Elomi and Curvy Kate charts. On all three band charts here, US and UK band numbers are the same.
