Sports Bra Size Chart: Three Brand Charts From XXS to 7X
Sports bra size charts from Nike, SHEFIT and Superfit Hero: which one wants your bra size, which wants bust and rib cage, and what to do between two rows.

The bra in your drawer says 38D, the sports bra comes in L, XL and 2X, and the L you guessed either bounces on the first run or flattens you. Picking by band alone looks safe, but on Nike’s chart every band from 34 to 46 is split across two letter sizes: A to C cups in one, D and E cups in the next one up, so a 38D is an XL there, not an L. Below are three brands’ sports bra size charts row by row, what each one asks you to measure, and what to do when you land between two rows.
The short answer
| Chart | Sizes | What it asks for | Range it prints |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nike sports bras | XXS to 4X, or XS (A–C) to 4X (F–G) | Your band and cup size | 28A to 50C; cups A to G (DDDD) |
| SHEFIT Ultimate and Flex | XSmall to 6Luxe | Bust and rib cage, in the same row | Bust 29 to 55 in |
| Superfit Hero | L to 7X | Bust only | Bust 39 to 71 in |
Step 1: Check what the chart asks for
Before you measure anything, look at the column headings. The three charts above want three different things:
- Your bra size. Nike’s page says its charts “convert your regular bra size into Nike Sports Bra sizes”, so you read across from a band and cup, such as 38D.
- Two tape numbers. SHEFIT asks for your bust and your rib cage, and says both “should fit within the same size row”.
- One tape number. Superfit Hero’s chart reads off your bust: “No band or cup sizes necessary.”
If your everyday bra size is a guess, or the bra no longer fits, measure first; the tape method is in how do i measure my bra size.
Step 2: Measure the way that chart says
The same word can mean a different spot on your body. Measure for the chart you are about to read:
- Under the bust, snug (Nike’s calculator). Around the bottom band of your bra, just under the breast; the tape “should feel snug”, and you round up.
- Rib cage, tight (SHEFIT). “Measure tightly around your rib cage directly under your bust.”
- Bust (SHEFIT and Superfit Hero). Around the fullest part. SHEFIT says to do it while wearing a bra; Superfit Hero says at the widest point.
- Nike’s cup is a half measurement. For its calculator, the tape goes across the fullest point of one breast, from the center of your chest to where the breast tissue ends at the side, not all the way round. These two numbers go into the calculator at the top of Nike’s size page, which returns the size; Nike’s charts in step 3 start from a bra size, not inches.
Write each number down with where you took it (our suggestion). A band number from a different method is not interchangeable (our reading): Glamorise’s bra size calculator takes the band “under your arms just above your bust”, which is a different place from the under-the-bust number Nike and SHEFIT ask for.

Step 3: Read the row
Nike: from your bra size to a letter size
This is Nike’s band-and-cup chart, copied cell by cell. Nike writes DD as E, DDD as F and DDDD as G.
| Nike size | Band and cup sizes in it |
|---|---|
| XXS | 28A–28E |
| XS | 30A–30E, 32A–32B |
| S | 32C–32E, 34A–34C |
| M | 34D–34E, 36A–36C |
| L | 36D–36E, 38A–38C |
| XL | 38D–38E, 40A–40C |
| XXL | 40D–40E, 42A–42C |
| 1X | 42D–42E, 44A–44C |
| 2X | 44D–44E, 46A–46C |
| 3X | 46D–46E, 48A–48C |
| 4X | 48D–59E (as printed), 50A–50C |
The “59E” in the 4X cell is printed that way on Nike’s page; its cup-sized chart below puts 48D–48E in 4X (C–E).
If you wear an F (DDD) or G (DDDD) cup, the chart above has no row for you. Nike’s second chart splits each letter size by cup, and its instruction is to “find your usual size (XS–4X), then find your usual cup size (A–G)”. The rows from M up, as printed:
| Nike size | (A–B) | (C–E) | (F–G) |
|---|---|---|---|
| M | 36A–36B | 36C, 34D–34E | 34F–34G |
| L | 38A–38B | 38C, 36D–36E | 36F–36G |
| XL | 40A–40B | 40C, 38D–38E | 38F–38G |
| XXL | 42A–42B | 42C, 40D–40E | 40F–40G |
| 1X | 44A–44B | 44C, 42D–42E | 42F–42G |
| 2X | 46A–46B | 46C, 44D–44E | 44F–44G |
| 3X | 48A–48B | 48C, 46D–46E | 46F–46G |
| 4X | 50A–50B | 50C, 48D–48E | 48F–48G |
XS and S are split differently on the same chart: XS (A–C), XS (D–E) and XS (F–G); S (A–C), S (C–E) and S (F–G).
SHEFIT Ultimate and Flex: bust and rib cage
SHEFIT’s Ultimate and Flex sports bras share this chart. Find the row that holds both of your numbers.
| SHEFIT size | Bust (in) | Rib cage (in) |
|---|---|---|
| XSmall | 29–31 | 22–27 |
| Small | 32–35 | 25–32 |
| Medium | 35–38 | 26–33.5 |
| Luxe | 38–40 | 29–36 |
| 1Luxe | 40–42 | 31–38 |
| 2Luxe | 42–44 | 32–40 |
| 3Luxe | 44–46 | 35.5–43 |
| 4Luxe | 46–49 | 37.5–44 |
| 5Luxe | 49–52 | 37–47.5 |
| 6Luxe | 52–55 | 38.5–49.5 |
Use the chart for the bra you are buying. SHEFIT prints separate charts for its Emerge bra and its other bra styles, and the same name moves: a Luxe is a 29–36 inch rib cage here and 33.5–36 on the “Other bra styles” chart. In SHEFIT’s words, choose by the measurements “rather than assuming the same size name has identical measurements across every collection.”
No tape? SHEFIT’s page also takes your current US band (28 to 50) and cup (A to I) as a starting point for Ultimate and Flex, then tells you to confirm it against this chart.
Superfit Hero: bust only
| Superfit Hero size | US size | Bust (in) |
|---|---|---|
| L (EarthFit) | 12-14 | 39-42 |
| XL (WaterFit) | 16-18 | 43-46 |
| 2X (AirFit) | 18-20 | 47-50 |
| 3X (FireFit) | 22-24 | 51-54 |
| 4X (StarFit) | 26-28 | 55-58 |
| 5X (NovaFit) | 30-32 | 59-62 |
| 6X (GalaxyFit) | 34-38 | 63-66 |
| 7X (InfiniFit) | 40-44 | 67-71 |
The same page lists waist and hips for its other pieces; for bras and tops it asks for the bust alone.
When you land between two rows
Take one made-up reader with a 46 inch bust and a 38 inch rib cage (our arithmetic). On SHEFIT’s Ultimate and Flex chart, 46 is the top of 3Luxe and the bottom of 4Luxe, and 38 is inside both rib cage ranges, so both rows fit. On Superfit Hero’s chart the same bust is an XL. Same body: 3Luxe or 4Luxe at one brand, XL at the other. What each brand says to do:
- SHEFIT, both rows fit: “the larger size offers more coverage and the smaller size more compression.” Pick by which you want more.
- SHEFIT, your two numbers point to different rows: the page asks you to send your measurements and the style to its fit experts.
- Superfit Hero: its bust ranges do not overlap, but a 42.5 inch bust falls in the gap between L (39-42) and XL (43-46) (our reading). The brand offers a personal recommendation if you contact it with your measurements.
- Nike: wherever both charts have a row, they agree (our comparison), apart from the “59E” cell noted above. The second one adds F and G cups, and on each band from 34 to 48 they sit in the same letter size as that band’s D and E: 36D through 36G are all L.
- Past the end of a chart: Nike’s charts stop at a 50 band and a G cup, SHEFIT’s at a 55 inch bust, Superfit Hero’s at a 71 inch bust. A size past the last row is not on that chart; check another brand’s chart instead of rounding down (our suggestion).
Reading UK cup letters on a US chart
SHEFIT asks for your US band and cup. Nike’s page does not name a sizing system; its cup list (D, E (DD), F (DDD), G (DDDD)) follows US-style lettering (our reading). If your bra tag is UK-sized, convert the cup first. Freya’s international size guide prints these pairs:
| UK cup | US cup |
|---|---|
| DD | DD |
| E | DDD |
| F | G |
| FF | H |
| G | I |
Then line the US letter up with the brand’s own: a US DDD is Nike’s F (DDD), and the next cup, US G, is Nike’s G (DDDD) (our alignment, by position). The rest of the letters, to O, are in our bra size conversion chart.
Check the fit when it arrives
- Set the adjustments first. SHEFIT’s Ultimate or Flex sports bra “arrives ready for you to adjust”: close the zip, cinch the rib band, then set the shoulder straps.
- Band. On Nike’s checklist, the underband stays put when you raise your arms and sits level on your ribs with room for two fingers underneath.
- Straps and cups. Straps should not dig or slip, and the fabric should cover you without gaping or bulging.
- Bounce. Nike suggests five jumping jacks or a move from your workout. If there is too much bounce, its fix is a higher-support style, a wider strap or a racerback.
- Before ordering two sizes, read the brand’s returns page (our suggestion).

If you are still choosing the bra itself, our plus size sports bra picks list the band and cup range each one sells. The other measuring walkthroughs are in size guides.
Where these numbers come from
The rows are copied from Nike’s sports bra size chart, SHEFIT’s Fit Central charts, Superfit Hero’s size chart and Freya’s international size guide, with Glamorise’s band step from its bra size calculator page, all read on 3 November 2026. The worked example and the Nike letter alignment are our arithmetic.
Frequently asked questions
What size sports bra is a 38DD?
On Nike's chart, an XL. Nike writes DD as E, and both of its charts put 38D to 38E in XL; the cup-sized one calls that size XL (C–E). SHEFIT's no-tape tool takes 38DD as a starting point for Ultimate and Flex, then asks you to confirm on the bust and rib cage chart; Superfit Hero sizes by bust alone, so measure and read its rows.
Is a sports bra the same size as a regular bra?
It depends on whose chart you are reading. Nike's charts convert your regular band and cup size into its letter sizes. SHEFIT's charts use your bust and rib cage in inches, and Superfit Hero's uses your bust alone and says no band or cup sizes are necessary.
Should I size up or down in a sports bra?
None of these three charts gives a blanket rule. On SHEFIT's, if both measurements fit two rows, the larger size gives more coverage and the smaller one more compression. Nike's fix for too much bounce is a higher-support style, a wider strap or a racerback.
What size is 2X in a sports bra?
It depends on the brand. On Nike's charts, 2X is 44D to 44E and 46A to 46C, and its cup-sized chart adds 44F to 44G as 2X (F–G). On Superfit Hero's chart, 2X is a 47 to 50 inch bust, and SHEFIT's sports bra charts do not use 2X at all: their sizes run from XSmall to 6Luxe.
