Soccer Cleats for Wide Feet: Six Picks, Widths and Surfaces
Five New Balance soccer cleats listed in a Wide width and one Mizuno boot described as a wide fit, with the surface each is built for, fit notes and prices.

By the second half your little toes are pressing into the sides of your boots, and the half size up you tried last season gave you more toe room and a heel that slips. A longer cleat is not a wider one. Below are five cleats listed in a Wide width and one boot its maker calls a wide fit, with the surface each is built for, what it costs and what is wrong with it.
The short answer
| Pick | Best for | Price (reference) | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Balance 442 Team FG V3 | A leather boot for firm ground, for the least money | $84.95 at Zappos | Medium or Wide; leather upper; firm ground |
| New Balance Tekela Team Low Laced FG V5 | Players who want the width as a letter | $94.95 at Zappos | D - Medium or 2E - Wide; knitted collar |
| New Balance Furon Team FG V9 | A light mesh boot in Wide | $94.95 at Zappos | Medium or Wide; mesh upper |
| New Balance 442 Pro FG V3 | The pricier 442, with a microfiber upper, for firm ground | $110 at Zappos | Medium or Wide; true to size for most, per Zappos |
| New Balance 442 Pro TF V3 | Artificial turf | $99.95 at Zappos | Medium or Wide; outsole for artificial surfaces |
| Mizuno Monarcida Neo III Select | Feet only a little wide (our reading) | $100 | One width, which Mizuno describes as a wide fit |
Width is a separate choice from size
Each of the five New Balance listings at Zappos has a Gender selector (Women or Men, with Women selected when the page opens) above the sizes and a Width selector below them, so you choose who the sizes are for, the length and the width separately. The Tekela listing labels its two widths “D - Medium” and “2E - Wide”; the other four say Medium and Wide. The Tekela listing’s size data files those letters under New Balance’s men’s widths; the other four call their Medium and Wide a unisex width, with no letter. All five cleats are sold as unisex. Mizuno’s Monarcida page says “Order 1.5 sizes down for Women’s”, and Zappos’s measurement notes pair a US men’s 9 with a women’s 10.5, the same 1.5 gap (our arithmetic). Our guide to shoe width sizes shows where a women’s width falls on the men’s letters.
Leather on its own does not make a boot wide. Zappos’s listing for adidas’s Copa Mundial, a leather classic, describes it as “Regular fit”.

The six picks
New Balance 442 Team FG V3
If you play on firm ground and want the cheapest of the six picks, start here. Zappos had it at $84.95 on 1 October, in Medium and Wide. The listing says it is “Designed for firm-ground play”, with “a durable leather upper for enhanced touch and control on the ball”, a textile lining and insole, a round toe and a rubber outsole. It is a low-top, laced leather cleat.
Drawbacks: Zappos's fit note says it fits a half size up for most, and “Your usual size may feel tight.” The price is for the colourway linked.
New Balance Tekela Team Low Laced FG V5
The one listing of the six picks that puts a letter on its widths, so if your other shoes are a men’s 2E you can match it directly. Zappos had it at $94.95 on 1 October. The listing describes deboss channels across the upper to “promote natural flexion”, “A single-piece knitted collar” that wraps the ankle “for a snug, comfortable lockdown fit”, and a dual-injected TPU plate with conical and bladed rim studs in the forefoot. If you like a boot that hugs the ankle, this is the New Balance to try (our reading).
Drawbacks: The listing describes the upper two ways: microfiber in its description, “Breathable mesh upper” in its bullet list. Zappos's fit note says a half size up for most.
New Balance Furon Team FG V9
A lightweight mesh boot in Wide. Zappos listed it at $94.95 on 1 October in Medium and Wide. The listing gives “a lightweight mesh upper”, an “extended strike zone” for cleaner contact with the ball, a cushioned insole, a rounded toe and a dual-injected TPU outsole with T-shaped studs for “multi-directional speed and traction”. Zappos lists its weight as 8 oz in a men’s 9, Medium. Pick it if you want mesh rather than leather over your foot.
Drawbacks: Zappos's note reads “This runs small. We recommend a 1/2 size up.” The price is for the colourway linked; check others in the cart.
New Balance 442 Pro FG V3
Costs about $25 more than the 442 Team FG V3 (our arithmetic) and has a microfiber upper instead of leather, for players on firm ground. Zappos had it at $110 on 1 October, in Medium and Wide. The listing describes “a lightweight microfiber upper featuring quilted details”, a U-throat collar and floating tongue that “provide a comfortable, adaptive fit”, and conical studs for traction “on firm ground surfaces”.
Drawbacks: The most expensive of the six picks. Despite sharing the 442 name with the cheapest pick, its listing gives a microfiber upper, not leather.
New Balance 442 Pro TF V3
The pick if your games are on artificial turf. Zappos listed it at $99.95 on 1 October in Medium and Wide, with a “Rubber outsole for stability and traction on artificial surfaces”. Above that sit an EVA midsole, a leather upper with twin-needle stitching, the same U-throat collar and floating tongue as the 442 Pro FG, and a “three-piece heel construction” that the listing says “offers stability and depth”. Zappos lists its weight as 10 oz in a men’s 11, Medium.
Drawbacks: It is the one turf shoe of the six picks, so a player who also plays on firm ground needs a second pair (our reading). Zappos's note suggests a half size up if you have wide feet.
Mizuno Monarcida Neo III Select
For a foot that is only a little wide (our reading of a one-width boot Mizuno calls a wide fit), and the one pick not made by New Balance. Mizuno sells it in a single width at $100 on its own page, and describes it this way: “It offers a wide fit, a soft upper made from artificial leather, and a ZERO GLIDE insole for enhanced grip.” The page’s sizes run from M6 / W7.5 to M13 / W14.5, in half sizes to 11.5 and then 12 and 13. Its spec block gives the surface as Firm Ground (FG) and the weight as 225 g in a size 9, while the description says it “is suitable for all surfaces”.
Drawbacks: One width only: wide fit is Mizuno's description, not a width you can select, so a foot that needs a 2E may still find it tight (our reading). Mizuno calls it an entry level boot, and the size list stops at M13.

How to choose
- Start from the width letter you already wear. Look at the label inside the tongue of shoes that fit you well. If it reads 2E on a men’s shoe, start with the Wide: the Tekela’s Wide is a men’s 2E; the other four print no letter (our reading for those four). If you are not sure of your width, our guide on how to measure foot size at home covers the paper-and-pen method.
- Only a little wide, and fine in standard trainers? The Mizuno’s one width, which Mizuno describes as a wide fit, may be enough (our reading). If it is not, order a New Balance in Wide.
- Past 2E? None of the five New Balance listings showed a width past Wide on 1 October, and the Mizuno comes in one width. Order the Wide, and try it on at home before you play in it.
- Over a men’s 13? The Mizuno’s size list stops at M13 / W14.5. For the New Balance picks, check that your size is offered in Wide before you settle on one.
- Match the surface you play on. Firm ground (FG): the 442 Team FG V3 and 442 Pro FG V3 (FG on the listing), the Furon and Tekela (FG in the name), and the Mizuno, whose spec says FG though its description says all surfaces. Artificial turf: the 442 Pro TF V3, the one listing that names artificial surfaces.
- Wide in your running shoes too? Our running shoes wide feet guide lists the width letters by brand for training days.

Before you order
- Select the width before the size. On each New Balance listing, choose Wide and then check that your size is offered in it.
- Read the fit note for that model. All five Zappos fit notes mention a half size up: “Fits a 1/2 size up for most” on the 442 Team FG V3 and Tekela, “We recommend a 1/2 size up” on the Furon, and “Consider a 1/2 size up if you have wide feet or are between sizes” on the 442 Pro FG V3 and 442 Pro TF V3, which both say “Fits true to size for most”.
- Women: pick Gender before size. All six picks are unisex. On each Zappos listing, choose Women or Men under Gender before the size; if you pick Men, go 1.5 sizes down from your women’s size, the gap Zappos’s measurement notes show (our arithmetic). Mizuno’s page prints each men’s size next to its women’s equivalent.
- Try them on indoors. Wear the socks and shin guards you play in, walk and push off sideways on a clean floor, and check the store’s return terms before you wear them outside.
- Wear them to a training session before a match. A practice is a better place than a full game to find a pressure point, because you can swap back to your old boots at the break.
Where these numbers come from
New Balance’s own site would not load for us on 1 October 2026, so the New Balance widths, descriptions, fit notes and prices are from Zappos listings read that day. The Mizuno details and price are from Mizuno USA’s product page, read the same day.
Frequently asked questions
Do soccer cleats come in wide widths?
Some do. On 1 October 2026 Zappos listed the five New Balance picks here, the 442 Team FG V3, 442 Pro FG V3, Furon Team FG V9, Tekela Team Low Laced FG V5 and 442 Pro TF V3, in Medium and Wide, the Tekela as D - Medium and 2E - Wide. Mizuno sells its Monarcida Neo III Select in one width and describes it as a wide fit.
Are there 4E soccer cleats?
Not among the six picks. On 1 October none of the five New Balance listings showed a width past Wide, which the Tekela listing labels 2E, and the Mizuno comes in one width. If your everyday shoes are 4E, the Wide may still be tight (our reading), so order it and try it indoors before you play in it.
Should I size up in soccer cleats if I have wide feet?
Size and width are separate choices on each New Balance listing, so pick Wide first. Then read the fit note: Zappos says the 442 Team FG V3 and Tekela fit a half size up for most, says the Furon runs small, and puts both 442 Pro models at true to size for most, with a half size up for wide feet or between sizes.
What are the best soccer cleats for wide feet on artificial turf?
Of the six picks, the New Balance 442 Pro TF V3 is the one built for turf: its Zappos listing, in Medium and Wide, gives a rubber outsole for traction on artificial surfaces, under a leather upper.
