Seven heels and dress shoes from two brands, Ros Hommerson and Munro, sold in wide and extra wide, with the width letters, heel height, sizes and price.

Two hours into a wedding, the sides of a standard pump have left a red line across the ball of your foot and your little toe is folded under. Going up a size to get room across the front leaves your heel slipping out of the back while the toes still pinch. Below are seven heels and dress shoes from two brands, Ros Hommerson and Munro, each sold in a wide and an extra-wide width, with the width letters each brand prints, the heel height on the listing, the sizes sold and what each costs.

The quick answer

What wide and extra wide mean at these two brands

Width letters differ between brands, so read each one’s labels. If the letters are new to you, shoe width sizes explains B, D, 2E and the rest.

Ros Hommerson prints the letters in the width selector itself: Narrow (2A/A), Medium (B/C), Wide (D/E) and Wide Wide (2E/3E). Its FAQ says “we base our sizes on the Brannock Device available in most shoe stores” and suggests having your foot measured in a shoe store before ordering.

Munro calls its widths Narrow, Medium, Wide and Extra Wide on the two listings below, and its size and width guide letters them A, B, D and EE. Its heel chart gives a width in centimetres for each size, and Wide (D) and Extra wide (EE) share the same figure at every size on the chart: 9 cm at a US 9, against 8.6 cm for Medium (B). The guide says so outright: “AA and A share the same width measurement, as do D and EE”, and that its shoemakers build each width to fit differently: “For example, an extra wide feels genuinely roomier than a wide.”

So a Munro Extra Wide is an EE. Ros Hommerson’s width selector reads Wide Wide (2E/3E), the one label among these seven that names a 3E, though Ros’s own size conversion chart letters the same width EE.

The seven

Ros Hommerson Pammy

$170 as of 28 Sep 2026 · 5 to 11 in half sizes, then 12 and 13 · View it on the brand’s site →

A platform sandal with “elegant criss-cross straps secured by two functional buckles”, a 3-inch heel and a 1/2-inch platform, in black suede, red suede or silver glitter leather. It is the tallest heel of the seven, for an evening where you want real height, and the two buckles let you set how tight the straps sit.

Drawbacks: if you rarely wear heels, 3 inches is a lot; the Meredith or Bonnie below is lower. Its width selector also starts at Medium (B/C), with no Narrow.

Ros Hommerson Sadee

$180 as of 28 Sep 2026 · 6 to 11 in half sizes, then 12 and 13 · View it on the brand’s site →

A soft suede pump with “a sprinkling of bling on the slightly pointed toe and a lovely sculptured heel” of 2 1/2 inches, in black suede or red suede. The listing names cushioned Tiny Pillows insoles and a “Spot cemented footbed” that “makes it easy to remove”. The pick for a classic pointed pump with some height.

Drawbacks: only two colours, and at $180 it is tied with the Meredith as the dearest of the five Ros Hommerson picks.

Ros Hommerson Meredith

$180 as of 28 Sep 2026 · 6 to 11 in half sizes, then 12 and 13 · View it on the brand’s site →

A suede pump with a patent-covered, notched block heel of 2 inches and a “slightly squared tapered toe”. Its listing says the “Walled toe-box provides plenty of toe room” and gives it moderate arch support, and it comes in six colours, from navy suede to light taupe suede with patent. Of the seven, it is the one whose listing calls its heel a block heel, so it is the one to look at first if you want a block-heel pump for work.

Drawbacks: at 2 inches it is a mid-height heel rather than a tall one, and at $180 it is tied with the Sadee as the dearest of the five Ros Hommerson picks.

Ros Hommerson Bonnie

$150 as of 28 Sep 2026 · 6 to 11 in half sizes, then 12 and 13 · View it on the brand’s site →

A “pointed-toe, sculpted kitten-heel pump” of 1 3/4 inches in micro fabric, with “crystal rhinestone accented crisscross detail straps” and removable Tiny Pillows insoles. At $150 it is the lowest price of the seven, and the rhinestone straps dress it up for a wedding without much height.

Drawbacks: it comes in one colour, Black Microtouch, and the upper is micro fabric rather than leather.

Ros Hommerson Lettie II

$160 as of 28 Sep 2026 · 5 to 11 in half sizes, then 12 and 13 · View it on the brand’s site →

An evening sandal with “rhinestone adorned delicate straps and an adjustable heel strap buckle” on a 1 3/4-inch heel, in black micro fabric or white leather. The listing pitches it for “formal or cocktail attire”; if you are not sure where your invitation sits, what cocktail attire means covers the dress codes. Our reading: the open, strappy upper puts less material across a wide forefoot than a closed pump.

Drawbacks: two colours, and an open sandal is a warm-weather or indoor shoe.

Munro Hannah Pump

$190 as of 28 Sep 2026 · 5 to 11 in half sizes, then 12 and 13; Wide 6 to 13, Extra Wide 7 to 13 · View it on the brand’s site →

A kid suede pump with a “soft point toe and choked topline” on a 1 1/4-inch covered dress heel, a removable EVA footbed and a steel shank. A low, plain office pump in Munro’s Extra Wide, the EE on its guide. Munro sells each colour as its own listing.

Drawbacks: Extra Wide starts at size 7, so a 5 to 6.5 cannot get it; of Munro’s five Hannah colour listings, only black, chocolate and tan suede carry an Extra Wide option, while navy and wine stop at Wide; and on Munro’s heel chart, Extra Wide prints the same width as Wide.

Munro Luna Heel

$200 as of 28 Sep 2026 · 4 to 11 in half sizes, then 12 and 13; Wide and Extra Wide 6 to 13 · View it on the brand’s site →

A dress sandal in crinkle patent leather with “Beautiful foot coverage and a velcro backstrap” that its listing says delivers “a secure, adjustable fit”, on a 1 1/4-inch covered dress heel with a rubber toplift. It suits a wedding or a dinner where you want a low heel and a strap you can adjust. All three of Munro’s Luna colour listings (black patent, rose gold leather and dusty metallic) carry an Extra Wide option.

Drawbacks: at $200 it is the most expensive of the seven; at 1 1/4 inches it is, with the Hannah, the lowest heel here; and Munro’s heel chart stops at a US 12, though the listing sells a 13.

How to choose

  • You need more than a D: Munro’s Extra Wide is an EE. If a 2E still presses on your little toe, the Ros Hommerson picks are the only ones here whose width selector names a 3E, Wide Wide (2E/3E), though Ros’s size conversion chart letters that width EE. Ros’s listings, FAQ and that chart give no width measurements, so compare against a shoe you own.
  • You want height: the Pammy (3 inches plus a 1/2-inch platform) or the Sadee (2 1/2 inches). For a lower heel, the Meredith’s 2-inch block heel or the two Munro styles at 1 1/4 inches.
  • You want to adjust the fit across your foot: the three with adjustable straps are the Pammy, the Lettie II and the Luna. The four pumps list none.
  • You wear your own insole: the Meredith and Sadee listings say the footbed is easy to remove, Bonnie’s insoles and Hannah’s footbed are listed as removable. None of the seven listings mentions orthotics, so check with the brand before relying on one.
  • You wear a 12 or 13: all seven listings sell both sizes. None of the seven sells an 11.5 or 12.5, so if you are between 11 and 12, measure before you order.

Before you order

  • Measure your width, not just your length. Munro’s guide says to “measure the widest part of your foot horizontally” and compare that and your length with its chart; the steps are in how to measure foot size. On Munro’s heel chart the Wide and Extra Wide figure grows with the size, from 8.2 cm at a US 5 to 9.6 cm at a US 12, so read the row for your length.
  • Pick the width in its own selector. Ros Hommerson and Munro each list width as a separate option from size and colour, and at Munro the widths on offer differ by colour, as the Hannah shows.
  • Try them on carpet first, and read each store’s returns page before you buy.

Where these numbers come from

Widths, sizes, heel heights, prices and quoted phrases are copied from each brand’s own product listing, product feed, FAQ and size guide, read on 28 September 2026, in US dollars. Munro’s per-width size ranges and colour-listing counts are our tally of its full product feed, and the note on open sandals is our reading of the design.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between wide and extra wide in women's heels?

It depends on the brand's letters. Ros Hommerson sells Wide (D/E) and Wide Wide (2E/3E), though its size conversion chart letters Wide Wide as EE. Munro sells Wide and Extra Wide, which its size and width guide letters D and EE; its heel chart prints the same width in centimetres for both at every size it lists (US 5 to 12), and the guide says its shoemakers adjust how each shoe is built, with the example that "an extra wide feels genuinely roomier than a wide".

Which of these wide width heels is the tallest?

Ros Hommerson's Pammy, at a 3-inch heel with a 1/2-inch platform, followed by the Sadee pump at 2 1/2 inches. Munro's Hannah and Luna are the lowest here, at 1 1/4 inches.

Can I get wide width dress shoes in size 12 or 13?

All seven listings here sell a 12 and a 13, and none sells an 11.5 or a 12.5. On Munro's Hannah pump the Extra Wide width starts at size 7 and the Wide at 6; on its Luna, both start at 6.

Which of these heels have an adjustable strap?

Three: Ros Hommerson's Pammy (two buckle straps) and Lettie II (an adjustable heel strap buckle), and Munro's Luna (a Velcro backstrap). The other four listings, all pumps, list no adjustable strap.
