Extra Wide Shower Curtain: 78 to 108 Inch Sizes and Sellers

The tub is wider than the one the curtain was cut for, or the shower is a corner unit with a rod that turns, and a 72-inch curtain leaves a gap at one end that the floor pays for. Search “extra wide” and much of what comes back is still 72 by 72. This guide lists the widths that are actually sold, who sells them, and what they cost as of 20 September 2026.

What the size chart means by extra wide

A curtain maker’s shower curtain size chart sets out four fixed sizes and a custom row. Standard tub is 72 by 72, “the most common size”, and it is the size the chart says most hotels use. Extra-long is 72 by 84, for “tall spaces”. Extra-wide is 108 by 72, for “large tubs”. Stall size is 54 by 72. The chart’s own explanation of who needs the bigger two: “Some bathrooms use tall rods or wider tubs. These setups need extra-long or extra-wide curtains.”

Two things follow. The chart’s extra-wide is 36 inches wider than standard, which is half a standard curtain again by our arithmetic, so a 78-inch curtain is not what the chart means by the phrase even though two of the shops here, Shower of Curtains and 3H Linen, put the label on 78. And the maker that publishes the chart does not sell to it: its own cotton, organic cotton, linen and hemp curtains stop at 70 by 72, with 54 by 72 and 36 by 72 stall sizes below that. The chart is a vocabulary, not a catalogue.

The widths you can order

78 inches: Shower of Curtains, $49.90. All 250 designs in the store’s product data share one size grid: 36, 48, 54, 60, 65, 72 and 78 wide at 72 high, with 54 by 78, 72 by 78 and 72 by 84 for taller rods, and 249 of them share one price list. On that list the 78 by 72 is $49.90 against $46.90 for the 72 by 72, so the extra six inches cost $3. The fabric is “printed on water-resistant polyester”. For anything wider the shop’s extra wide page says: “For those who require something even broader—such as 84, 96, or 108 inches wide shower curtains—we offer custom sizing with a straightforward ordering process.” That is a contact form, not a listed price.

84, 96 and 108 inches: Southern Ticking Co., $162 to $172. One listing carries 84 by 72 at $162, 96 by 72 at $168, 108 by 72 at $172 and a square 84 by 84 at $172, in 13 stripe colourways. The listing states the trade-offs plainly: “vertical seams are required due to fabric width”, the top is buttonhole, and “This is a custom item and considered a final sale.” The same shop sells a 96 by 72 in five basic stripe colours for $125, also final sale, with “dry cleaning always recommended”.

Any width to 180 inches: 3H Linen, made to order. The width menu runs 72, 78, 84, 90, 92, 96, 108, 118, 144 and 180 inches, the length menu 72 to 100, and the listing is for one panel of “100% linen, medium weight (4.42 oz/yd2)” with a buttonhole top; “hooks are not included”, and a waterproof lining is an option. On 1 October 2026 it ran $134 for 72 by 72 to $293 for 180 by 96 to 100, before the waterproof lining, whose charge we could not read; check it on the listing.

Those are the three. Among the other stores we read, Magic Linen’s liner is listed as 72 by 72 only, Linens & Hutch sells one size, and the Hookless and mDesign catalogues did not load, so this is a list of what we could verify, not of everything on the market.

Height is a separate purchase

Wide and tall are sold as different products. Southern Ticking’s sister listing at Daniel Dry Goods is 72 wide at 84, 96 or 108 high, from $88 for the 72 by 84 in basic ticking to $178 for the 72 by 108. On the Southern Ticking listings only the 84 by 84 gives you both at once; 3H Linen’s width and length menus can be paired freely. If the rod is high as well as long, measure both before choosing which listing to open.

How to measure

Measure the rod from end to end, and for a curved or L-shaped rod measure along the curve rather than across it. A curtain narrower than the rod cannot close; that is arithmetic, not a manufacturer’s rule. How much wider than the rod to go is not something any of the pages we read publishes, so this is our judgement: the width beyond the rod becomes folds, and a curtain cut to the exact rod length hangs flat and pulls at the rings. For height, the chart’s instruction is “Measure the rod height from the floor.”

The chart’s stall size, 54 by 72, is the other direction of the same problem, and if the shower is a narrow stall the 36 and 48 widths at Shower of Curtains and the 36 and 54 stall sizes at the chart’s maker are the sizes to look at.

Before you order

• Custom sizes are final sale. Southern Ticking says so on both listings. Check the width twice.
• A separate liner is not included. None of the three sellers bundles one, and no store we could read lists a liner wider than 72 inches; the workaround is 3H Linen’s waterproof lining option, sewn to the back of the panel at any width on its menu.
• Hooks are not included at 3H Linen. The buttonhole top takes standard rings.
• Vertical seams are how a 108-inch cotton curtain gets made. Southern Ticking states it; fabric does not come that wide.
• Read the returns page of whichever shop you choose before paying; the two custom sellers have already told you the answer.
