Gaming Chair for Big Guys: 5 Chairs Printing 395 to 500 lb

Five big and tall chairs whose makers print 395 to 500 lb, each weight under its own label, with seat width as labelled, backrest height and the arms.

Cover card reading “Gaming Chair for Big Guys: 5 Chairs Printing 395 to 500 lb” over a man in glasses at a computer desk, seated in a high-backed chair in a room lit blue and red

The chair that came with the desk sinks when you drop into it, and its arms press on your hips before you have pulled up to the screen. Picking the one with the biggest number in its title does not settle it, because gaming chair pages mix a load figure, a recommended weight and a part rating, sometimes for the same chair. Below are five chairs whose makers print 395 to 500 lb, each figure under the maker’s own label, with the seat width, backrest and arms you will sit between.

The short answer

What the number on a gaming chair page means

Gaming chair pages print three kinds of weight figure.

  • A load ceiling. Secretlab calls it Maximum Load, AndaSeat Max Weight Capacity, DXRacer High Load Capacity, Eureka Ergonomic Max Weight Capacity.
  • A recommended weight. Secretlab and AndaSeat print a range for the XL size, 175 to 395 lb on both.
  • A part rating. DXRacer’s Tank page also says its 31.5 inch wheelbase “supports up to 400 lbs”. That is the base, not the whole chair.

A load ceiling and a recommended weight can be far apart. Vertagear’s PL4500 page carries “Up to 400lbs” in its title and a Max Load of 180 kg / 400 lb, while the same spec list gives a Recommended Weight of up to 260 lbs, and a footnote says the chair is “recommended for those up to 6’6” tall, up to 260 lbs”. Where a page prints both kinds, plan on the recommended figure (our reading).

The five picks

DXRacer Tank (Super Plus / XXL)

$599Price for reference only400 lb (High Load Capacity) · Seatbase Width 24.8 in · Backrest Height 35.4 in · 4D arms, 19.5–21.5 in apart on the size drawingView it on the brand's site →

If you are big and tall, under 400 lb, and your hips fit between its arms, start here. The 400 appears three ways on the product page: as High Load Capacity, in the size picker, which lists Super Plus / XXL for players over 6’3” or under 400 lbs, and as a wheelbase that supports up to 400 lbs. Its size chart gives a Seatbase Width of 24.8 inches, the largest seat-width figure of the five picks; the size drawing marks it across the seat base at its outer edges. The chart gives Backrest Height 35.4 inches, Backrest Width 23.8 and 19.1 to 22.8 inches from floor to seat base; the drawing marks 36.2 inches beside the back, 24.0 across its top and 18.8 to 22.4 from floor to seat. The 4D arms adjust in width as well as height.

Drawbacks: Its size drawing marks 19.5 to 21.5 inches between the arms, so measure your seated hips first. The size chart lists no seat depth, and at 400 lb it leaves no room above that mark.

Secretlab Titan Evo XL

$629 (XL, NEO leatherette)Price for reference only395 lb Maximum Load · Seatbase Width 22.8 in incl. sides, 19.3 in without · Armrest to Armrest 27.4–30.5 in · Backrest Length 35.0 inView it on the brand's site →

If your hips are what make gaming chairs tight, look here first. Its XL spec list gives the widest space between the arms of the five picks: 27.4 to 30.5 inches Armrest to Armrest. The same list gives Seatbase Width (incl. Sides) of 22.8 inches and Seatbase Width of 19.3 inches, a Seat Depth of 19.7, a Backrest Length of 35.0, and 18.1 to 21.9 inches from floor to seat base. It recommends the XL for 5ft 11in to 6ft 9in and 175 to 395 lb. The arms are 4-directional on a full-metal mechanism.

Drawbacks: 395 lb is both its Maximum Load and the top of its recommended range, so there is no gap between the two. Other XL upholsteries and designs cost more.

AndaSeat Kaiser 4 XL

$579 (XL)Price for reference only395 lb Max Weight Capacity · Seatbase Width 21.26 in incl. sides, 12.60 in excl. · Armrest to Armrest 18.50–21.26 in · Length of Backrest 34.05 in · 6D armsView it on the brand's site →

For a tall player who wants to set the arms exactly, the Kaiser 4 has the most adjustment directions of the five picks: 6D. Its XL specification sheet gives a Max Weight Capacity of 395lbs and a Recommended Weight of 80 to 180 kg (175 to 395 lbs), for 5’11” to 6’11”. Seatbase Width is 21.26 inches including the sides and 12.60 excluding them; Seat Depth is 20.08, Length of Backrest 34.05, and 18.11 to 20.67 inches from floor to seat base. It weighs 73.55 lbs.

Drawbacks: Its arms adjust from 18.50 to 21.26 inches apart, against 27.4 to 30.5 on the Secretlab, so measure your seated hips first. The page says the locked pop-out lumbar gives support for up to 260lbs, a lower figure than the chair's 395.

AndaSeat Kaiser 3 XL

$499 (XL)Price for reference onlyRecommended Weight 175–395 lbs (base: up to 395 lb) · Seatbase Width 21.06 in incl. sides, 12.6 in excl. · Armrest to Armrest 17.72–20.47 in · Length of Backrest 32.68 inView it on the brand's site →

The Kaiser 3 XL costs $80 less than the Kaiser 4 XL (our arithmetic). Its XL specification sheet gives a Recommended Weight of 80 to 180 kg (175 to 395 lbs) for 5’11” to 6’11”, and the product page describes its Reinforced Aluminum Base as “Tested to withstand loads of up to 3,000 lb and supports up to 395 lb”. Seatbase Width is 21.06 inches including the sides and 12.6 excluding them, Seat Depth 19.29, and 17.52 to 20.08 inches from floor to seat base, the lowest seat of the five picks. The arms are 4-directional, and the chair weighs 68.01 lbs.

Drawbacks: Its arms sit 17.72 to 20.47 inches apart, the narrowest space between the arms of the five picks, and its 32.68 inch backrest is the shortest of the four gaming chairs.

Eureka Ergonomic Hoss Big & Tall

$269Price for reference only500 lbs Max Weight Capacity · Seat Width 23.25 in · 21 5/8 in between the arm pads (drawing) · Seat Depth 20.5 in · Seat Height 18.5–22.25 inView it on the brand's site →

If you weigh more than 400 lb, none of the four gaming chairs above prints a figure for you. Eureka Ergonomic, which also sells gaming chairs, prints a Max Weight Capacity of 500 lbs for the Hoss and calls it a big and tall office chair “for executives, gamers, and artists”. The spec list gives a Seat Width of 23.25 inches without saying how it is measured; Eureka’s dimension drawing puts 23 1/4 inches across the seat cushion. The list’s overall width of 21.63 inches matches the drawing’s 21 5/8 inch marks across the top of the back and between the arm pads; across the outside of the arms the drawing marks 29 15/16. Seat Depth is 20.5, Seat Height 18.5 to 22.25, and the recommended height 5’1” to 6’5”. It is also the cheapest of the five picks.

Drawbacks: It is an office chair, not a racing-style gaming chair: its drawing marks 24 inches beside the back, and the arms adjust in height only, so the 21 5/8 inches between the arm pads is fixed (our reading). That is narrower than the seat.

How to choose

  • Start with your weight. Our rule of thumb, as in our office chair for heavy person guide, is to stay 30 lb under the figure: 365 lb for the 395 lb chairs, 370 for the Tank, 470 for the Hoss (our arithmetic). Over 370 lb, the Hoss is the only pick with that margin, but its arm pads, which adjust in height only, sit about 21.6 inches apart on Eureka’s drawing.
  • Measure your hips sitting down, tape level across the widest point, as set out in our wide office chair guide. Compare that number with the armrest-to-armrest figure, not the seat width. If you measure over about 20 inches, the Kaisers (up to 21.26 and 20.47 inches), the Tank (19.5 to 21.5 on its drawing) and the Hoss (21 5/8 on its drawing) will be close (our reading); the Secretlab opens to 30.5.
  • Check your height against the size. The Secretlab XL is drawn for 5ft 11in to 6ft 9in and both Kaisers for 5’11” to 6’11”. The Tank’s XXL is listed for over 6’3” or under 400 lbs, and the Hoss for 5’1” to 6’5”.
  • Check the seat height against your legs. The lowest settings run from 17.52 inches (Kaiser 3 XL) to 18.8 or 19.1 (Tank, drawing and chart); measure a chair at home that lets your feet sit flat.

Before you order

  1. Check the price for your size and finish in the cart. The prices above are for the XL or Super Plus / XXL size, without any promo code, and are a reference only.
  2. Plan the delivery and the build. The Kaiser 4 XL weighs 73.55 lbs and the Kaiser 3 XL 68.01 lbs, before the box. Read each maker’s return terms before you assemble.

If you want a heavier figure in a desk chair rather than a gaming chair, our side-by-side of heavy duty office chair ratings ranks sixteen chairs from 500 lb down to 275 lb.

Where these numbers come from

Weight figures, sizes and prices are from each maker’s product page and the spec sheets and size drawings linked from it, read on 1 October 2026. Margins and differences are our arithmetic.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best gaming chair for big guys?

It depends on which number limits you. Of the five picks, the DXRacer Tank prints the highest gaming-chair figure, 400 lb, with a 24.8 inch seat base. The Secretlab Titan Evo XL prints 395 lb and the widest space between the arms of the five picks, 27.4 to 30.5 inches. Over 400 lb, the Eureka Ergonomic Hoss, sold as an office chair, prints 500 lbs, with 21 5/8 inches between its arm pads on the maker's drawing.

Is there a big and tall gaming chair rated for 500 lbs?

Not among the four gaming chairs here: they stop at 400 lb (DXRacer Tank) and 395 lb (the Secretlab and AndaSeat XL sizes). The 500 lb pick, the Eureka Ergonomic Hoss, is sold as a big and tall office chair. Where a listing says 500 lb, find the same chair's spec table on the maker's page and compare the two.

Can a 400 lb person use a gaming chair rated to 400 lb?

Only at the limit. The weight figure is about the frame and parts; fit is the seat width and the space between the arms. Our rule of thumb is to stay 30 lb under the figure, which puts the Tank at 370 lb and the 395 lb chairs at 365 lb (our arithmetic), and to check the armrest-to-armrest figure against your seated hip width.

Why does one gaming chair page show two weight limits?

Pages mix a maximum load with a recommended weight. Vertagear's PL4500 page says Up to 400lbs in its title and lists a Recommended Weight of up to 260 lbs in its specifications. Where a page prints both, plan on the recommended figure (our reading).
