Large Bean Bag Chairs for Adults: Six Picks and Their Sizes

Six large foam bean bag chairs for adults, with the footprint, height, bag weight and adult count each maker prints, and what to ask about a weight limit.

Cover card reading “Large Bean Bag Chairs for Adults: Six Picks and Their Sizes” over a man in a black shirt leaning back in a large dark bean bag on the floor, playing a ukulele

You lower yourself into a big bean bag, it settles under you, and getting back up ends with a hand on the floor. Going by the word adult on the label does not tell you whether a bag is built for your weight: of the six large bags below, none prints a weight limit on the page linked, and the five that give a count say 1-2 adults, 2-3, or 2 adults plus room to spare. So each pick comes with what its maker does print: how much floor it takes, how tall the bag stands, what it weighs to move, how many adults it is sold for, and its price.

The six bean bags

All six are filled with foam rather than beads, which the pages describe as shredded polyurethane foam, polyfoam or SumoFoam.

Jaxx Saxx 5 Basics Bean Bag

$99.50 (microsuede)Price for reference only60 x 60 x 36 (no unit printed) · 35 lb · shredded polyurethane foam · no inner linerView it on the brand's site →

The Saxx 5 Basics lists its dimensions as 60 x 60 x 36 with no unit; we read them as inches. It weighs 35 lb, the lightest of the six, and ships compressed in its cover. Jaxx describes it as its classic Saxx with a simplified construction that removes the inner liner. The camel microsuede is $99.50 and the plush corduroy colours $139. Start here if you want a five foot bag for under $100, against $275 to $450 for the other five.

Drawbacks: The cover is listed as wipe clean only, and the Basics version is built without an inner liner, which Jaxx says is how it keeps the price and weight down. The page gives no adult count.

Ultimate Sack 5000 (5 Ft) Bean Bag Chair

$335 (suede)Price for reference onlySold for 1-2 adults · 50–58 in across · 30–34 in tall · 50–55 lbView it on the brand's site →

Ultimate Sack says the 5000 can hold 1-2 adults or a few kids. It measures 50 to 58 inches across and 30 to 34 inches in height when fully fluffed, which the page says depends on the floor surface and the weight of the occupant. It weighs 50 to 55 pounds, comes pre-filled with shredded polyurethane foam inside an inner liner, and has a removable, washable cover. Suede is $335. Pick it if the bag is mainly for you and the room is not large.

Drawbacks: At 50 to 58 inches across it is the smallest of the six, and the 30 to 34 inch height is given for the bag fully fluffed, and the page says the height depends on the floor and the weight of the occupant. Prices vary by fabric.

Ultimate Sack 6000 (6 Ft) Bean Bag Chair

$405 (suede)Price for reference onlySold for 2-3 adults · 60–68 in across · 34–38 in tall · 70–75 lbView it on the brand's site →

The 6000 is sold as a bag that can hold 2-3 adults or a few kids, the same count the two Sumo bags give as seats. It measures 60 to 68 inches across and 34 to 38 inches tall when fully fluffed, its upper end of 38 inches the tallest height printed here, with the same note that the height depends on the floor and the occupant’s weight. Construction matches the 5000: shredded polyurethane foam, an inner liner and a removable, washable cover. Suede is $405. Choose it if two of you want to sit in it together.

Drawbacks: At 70 to 75 pounds it is one of the two heaviest of the six, with the Sumo Gigantor, so it is not a bag to move from room to room. The height is again given fully fluffed.

Sumo Titan

$275 (microsuede)Price for reference only70 in wide · 49 in deep · 36 in high · Seats 2-3 Adults · 65 lbs · removable, washable coverView it on the brand's site →

Sumo’s data sheet gives the Titan as 70 inches wide, 49 deep and 36 high, 65 lbs, and Seats 2-3 Adults. Its feature list includes extra length for lying down, and the covers are removable and washable, in microsuede or corduroy. Microsuede is $275. Buy it if you want to stretch out on your back rather than sit up.

Drawbacks: At 65 lbs it is the third heaviest of the six. The page names its fill two ways, 100% polyurethane foam in the description and Superior Sumofoam in the data sheet.

Sumo Gigantor

$285 (microsuede)Price for reference only6 ft diameter (72 x 72 in, data sheet) · 3 ft or 34 in high · 80 or 75 pounds · Seats 2-3 AdultsView it on the brand's site →

Sumo’s description gives the Gigantor as 6 ft in diameter and 3 ft high, weighing 80 pounds; the data sheet on the same page gives 72 by 72 inches, 34 high, 75 pounds, and Seats 2-3 Adults. Its 72 inches is the largest footprint of the six, ahead of the 6000’s 60 to 68. It is filled with Sumo’s own SumoFoam, and the microsuede cover zips off to machine wash. Microsuede is $285. Pick it if you have the floor and want the most room to spread out.

Drawbacks: The page prints two heights and two weights: 3 ft and 80 pounds in the description, 34 inches and 75 pounds in the data sheet. Either way it is one of the two heaviest of the six, with the Ultimate Sack 6000; Sumo itself calls it closer to a giant bean bag couch than a chair.

CordaRoy's Convertible Bean Bag, King, Corduroy

$450 (khaki or navy)Price for reference only60 x 60 in floor space · 2 adults + room to spare · bed 76 x 80 x 10 in · 41 lbsView it on the brand's site →

CordaRoy’s lists the King at 60 by 60 inches of floor space, for two adults with room to spare, and 41 lbs. Take the outer cover off and a foam bed unfolds from inside, 76 by 80 by 10 inches. The page sets the bed against the weight limits that often come with air mattresses, but it prints no figure for the chair or the bed. The cover is removable and washer and dryer friendly, and the shredded polyfoam is listed as CertiPUR-US. Khaki and navy are $450; gray is $405. Choose it if the bag has to double as the guest bed.

Drawbacks: The most expensive of the six, and the page prints no height for the chair. The inner liner is spot clean only; only the outer cover goes in the washer and dryer.

“Not printed” means the page linked does not give the figure. “(data sheet)” marks a figure from the Data Sheet tab on the Sumo pages. No page gives a seat height or a weight limit.

How to choose

Your weight, without a printed limit

None of the six prints a weight limit. The adult count, where there is one, tells you how many people the maker sized the bag for, not what it is rated to carry. Before you order, send the seller your weight and ask for an answer in writing. If you want a seat with a printed rating instead, our big and tall recliner and gaming chair for big guys guides give a printed weight figure for each pick.

Your floor against the footprint

Mark the footprint on the floor with tape before you buy: 50 to 58 inches across for the Ultimate Sack 5000, 60 inches for the Jaxx and the CordaRoy’s King, up to 68 for the 6000, 70 by 49 for the Titan and 72 for the Gigantor. Remember that the CordaRoy’s also needs 76 by 80 inches when it opens into a bed.

Getting up

None of the pages gives a seat height, only the height of the bag, and Ultimate Sack says its heights shift with the weight of the person in it. If getting up off the floor is hard for you, a seat with a printed seat height is the safer buy; our couch for heavy person guide gives seat heights, where the maker prints one, alongside the weight ratings.

Moving and washing it

Bag weights run from 35 lb (Jaxx) and 41 (CordaRoy’s) to 65 (Titan), 70 to 75 (6000) and 75 or 80 (Gigantor, two figures on one page). Five of the six have a removable cover their page calls washable or machine washable; the Jaxx Basics is wipe clean only.

Before you order

  • Check the price for the fabric you want. All four makers price the same bag differently by fabric or colour; the prices here are for the fabric named next to each one.
  • Plan the delivery. The Ultimate Sack bags come pre-filled at 50 to 75 pounds; the Jaxx ships compressed in its cover, and CordaRoy’s lists a vacuum-packed box of 16 by 16 by 45 inches.
  • Read the seller’s return terms before you order, not after the bag has been unpacked.

More seating guides are in the seating section.

Where these numbers come from

Dimensions, bag weights, adult counts and prices are from each maker’s product page, linked on each pick, read on 8 October 2026. The inch reading of the Jaxx figures is ours.

Frequently asked questions

How much weight can a large bean bag chair hold?

None of the six product pages in this guide prints a weight limit: Jaxx, Ultimate Sack, Sumo and CordaRoy's give dimensions and the weight of the bag, and five of the six say how many adults the bag is for or seats, but not a figure in pounds for the person sitting in it. If you need a number, ask the seller in writing before you order.

What size bean bag chair is good for an adult?

Ultimate Sack sells its 5 ft bag, 50 to 58 inches across, as holding 1-2 adults and its 6 ft bag, 60 to 68 inches across, as holding 2-3. CordaRoy's lists its Full at 42 inches wide for 1 adult, its Queen at 48 inches for 2 adults and its King at 60 inches for 2 adults with room to spare.

How heavy is a large bean bag chair?

The six picks here weigh from 35 lb (Jaxx Saxx 5 Basics) and 41 lb (CordaRoy's King) through 50 to 55 lb (Ultimate Sack 5000), 65 lbs (Sumo Titan) and 70 to 75 lb (Ultimate Sack 6000) to the Sumo Gigantor, whose page gives both 80 pounds (description) and 75 (data sheet).

Can a large bean bag chair be used as a bed?

The CordaRoy's King is built for it: the cover comes off and a 76 by 80 by 10 inch foam bed unfolds from inside. Among the other five, the Sumo Titan page lists extra length for lying down, on a bag 70 inches wide and 49 deep, and the Ultimate Sack 6000 page says its surface lets you lie down completely.
