Extra Deep Pocket Sheets: Six Picks, Pockets 21 to 24 Inches
Six extra deep pocket sheets that print the pocket in inches, 21 to 24, with queen prices, how to measure your bed and topper, and a flat sheet that fits.
You tuck in the last corner, roll over once, and by morning the fitted sheet has sprung off the mattress and is bunched under your shoulder. The usual fix is a set labelled deep pocket, but the label is not a measurement: Mellanni’s standard set is sold with a Deep Pocket Design that fits mattresses up to 16 inches deep, and one of Bare Home’s standard sets fits mattresses up to 15. Each of the six picks below prints its pocket in inches, 21 to 24, so measure your bed first and match the number.

Measure your bed, not the label
This is our method, not a maker’s. Measure from the bottom edge of the mattress to the top of whatever sits on it: a topper, a pillow top, a mattress pad. That total is the depth the fitted sheet has to wrap, and the pocket should be at least that deep.
The tallest mattress in our mattress for heavy person guide is 15.5 inches. Add a 3-inch topper and you need 18.5 inches (our arithmetic), which any of the 21-inch picks covers with 2.5 to spare. Over 22 inches in total, only the 24-inch fitted sheet here is deep enough on its own number.
Makers also rate the same pocket differently. Mellanni’s 21-inch pocket fits mattresses up to 21 inches thick, and Bare Home’s 22-inch pocket fits mattresses up to 22 inches deep. CGK prints a 21-inch pocket on its cotton set and says the set fits mattresses “18, 20, 21, 22, and 24 inches deep”. On our reading, count on the pocket figure, not the top of a brand’s range.
The flat sheet does not get deeper
The pocket grows; the flat sheet in these sets does not. All five sets below list a 90 by 102-inch queen flat sheet, and Mellanni’s size chart gives one flat sheet per size for both its 16-inch and 21-inch fitted sheets. On a 60-inch-wide queen, 90 inches hangs 15 inches a side (our arithmetic), so on a mattress deeper than that the flat sheet ends before the bottom edge and there is nothing to tuck. The king flat sheets run 106 to 112 inches wide, 15 to 18 inches a side on a standard king, which our oversized king bed guide gives as 76 inches wide (our arithmetic).
If you use a flat sheet, Southshore sells the Vilano Oversized Flat Sheet on its own at $27.99 (Price for reference only): 132 inches wide by 110 long, which hangs 36 inches a side on a queen and 28 on a king (our arithmetic). Microfiber sets
Bare Home Ultra-Soft 22 Inch Pocket Sheet Set
Start here if your bed is on an adjustable base or you sleep on a split king. It is the only set of the five sold in split sizes: Split King comes as five pieces with two 39 by 80 by 22-inch fitted sheets, and Split Head Flex King as one 78 by 80 by 22-inch fitted sheet split 34 inches from the top. The 22-inch pocket is the deepest of the five sets, and the page says it fits mattresses up to 22 inches deep. Twin and Twin XL come as three pieces, Split King as five and the other sizes as four.
Drawbacks: Polyester microfiber, not cotton. The queen price depends on the colour, $60.99 to $64.99, and the queen flat sheet is the same 90 × 102 as the other sets.
Mellanni Iconic 4-Piece Extra-Deep Microfiber Sheet Set
The lowest queen price of the five sets, and the size chart prints the standard and extra-deep fitted sheets side by side, 16 against 21 inches, so you can see exactly what the extra-deep version adds. The listing describes double-brushed microfiber with all-around elastic on the fitted sheet, machine washable, and lists it as an OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified product.
Drawbacks: Sold in Twin, Full, Queen and King only, with no California King or split size in its size options. The queen price is $47.27 or $50.27 depending on the colour.
Southshore Vilano Extra Deep Pocket 6-Piece Sheet Set
If you want spare pillowcases in the box: from Full up, the set has a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and four pillowcases, for $47.99 in queen. The fitted sheet is fully elasticized with a 21-inch pocket, in 110 GSM microfiber. Its king flat sheet is 112 inches wide, the widest king flat sheet of the five sets with the bamboo set below, 18 inches a side on a 76-inch king (our arithmetic).
Drawbacks: Microfiber like the two above, and the queen flat sheet is the same 90 × 102. The Twin comes with two pillowcases, not four.
Cotton and bamboo rayon
CGK Cotton 400 Thread Count 4 Piece Deep Pocket Sheet Set
If you want cotton. The listing gives 100% long-staple cotton in a sateen weave, made in India, with a 21-inch pocket and elastic around the fitted sheet, and says the set is meant for mattresses with a 3 or 4-inch topper or a pillow top. The queen has two 20 by 30-inch pillowcases, the king two 20 by 36.
Drawbacks: Queen and King only. Its king flat sheet is 106 inches wide, the narrowest king flat sheet of the five sets, 15 inches a side on a 76-inch king (our arithmetic).
Southshore 300 Thread Count Bamboo Extra Deep Pocket Sheet Set
For a sheet that is not polyester or cotton: the set is 100% rayon from bamboo in a 300 thread count sateen weave, which the brand calls moisture-wicking, and machine washable. The pocket is 21 inches, and the king flat sheet is 112 inches wide, tied with the Vilano set for the widest king flat sheet of the five.
Drawbacks: The highest queen price of the six picks, and no Twin. Two pillowcases, against four in Southshore's Vilano set.
A fitted sheet only
Bare Home Ultra-Soft 24 Inch Pocket Fitted Sheet
The deepest pocket of the six: 24 inches, and the page says it fits mattresses up to 24 inches deep. Pair it with the oversized flat sheet above if your mattress and topper come to more than 22 inches, or with your own flat sheet if you already have one wide enough.
Drawbacks: One fitted sheet only, no flat sheet or pillowcases, and no Split King in its size options. The queen price is $39.99 to $42.99 depending on the colour.

How to choose
- Mattress plus topper comes to 21 inches or less: any of the five sets. Mellanni or the Vilano set for the lowest queen price, CGK for cotton, the Southshore bamboo set for rayon from bamboo.
- Exactly 22 inches: the Bare Home 22-inch set, the only one of the five sets with a pocket that deep, or the 24-inch fitted sheet.
- Over 22, up to 24 inches: the Bare Home 24-inch fitted sheet, with the Vilano Oversized Flat Sheet if you use one.
- Split King or a split-top adjustable king: Bare Home, the only split sizes of the six.
- California King: Bare Home, the Vilano set, the bamboo set or the 24-inch fitted sheet. Mellanni’s and CGK’s listings have no California King option.

How deep is an extra deep pocket sheet?
There is no fixed number. The six picks here print 21, 22 or 24 inches. The words deep pocket do not tell you: Mellanni's standard Iconic set is sold with a Deep Pocket Design that fits mattresses up to 16 inches deep, and Bare Home calls 15 inches its usual pocket. Go by the inches on the size chart.
What pocket depth do I need for a mattress with a topper?
Our method: measure from the bottom edge of the mattress to the top of the topper and any pad on it, then pick a pocket at least that deep. A 15.5-inch mattress with a 3-inch topper is 18.5 inches (our arithmetic), inside any of the 21-inch picks. Over 22 inches, Bare Home's 24-inch fitted sheet is the deepest pocket of the six.
