Plus Size Leggings: 8 Pairs by Waistband, Inseam and Fabric
Eight plus size leggings in sizes to 7X, with each chart's waist and hip, the inseam choices, the fabric blend, the price, and any no-roll or opacity claims.

You bend to tie a shoe and the waistband rolls down under your belly, then you stand up in daylight and the knees have gone see-through. The usual fix is a size up, and that pair sags at the crotch and slides off your hips on the walk home. Below are eight pairs with the waist and hip each size is cut for, the inseams you can order, what the fabric is made of and the price, so you can pick one that stays put in your size.

RPET is how Girlfriend Collective’s fabric line labels its recycled water bottles. All eight prices are in US dollars.
What the size letters mean at each brand
The same letter means a different body at each of these three brands, so the chart matters more than the label.
- Superfit Hero’s leggings run L to 7X, and the brand prints the whole size chart in inches. L is a 32 to 35-inch waist and a 43 to 46-inch hip (US 12 to 14); 3X is a 46 to 50-inch waist and a 58 to 62-inch hip (US 22 to 24); 7X is a 71 to 79-inch waist and an 82 to 90-inch hip (US 40 to 44).
- Girlfriend Collective runs XXS to 6XL on one bottoms chart, printed on each of the three listings below. XXXL is a 39 to 42½-inch waist and a 50 to 53½-inch hip; 6XL, the top row, is a 49½ to 53-inch waist and a 60½ to 64-inch hip.
- Universal Standard puts the US numeric size in each of its size labels on these two listings, from 4XS (00-0) to 4XL (38-40), and both listings here say “Runs True: We suggest you take your regular size.”
So a 60-inch hip is a 3X at Superfit Hero and a 5XL at Girlfriend Collective (57 to 60½ inches). If you have not measured lately, how to measure your bust, waist and hips walks through it.

The eight
Superfit Hero SuperHold Ankle Leggings
$98 Price for reference only · L to 7X · View it on the brand’s site →
The listing answers both complaints above: a “Secure, no-slip and no-roll fit” and “Squat-proof and opaque coverage”, with two full-size pockets and flat-lock seams. The fabric is 88 percent polyester and 12 percent spandex with an 8 to 15 mmHg compression rating, and the inseam is 30 inches, which the listing says stretches to 32. The same fabric comes as a 7/8 with a 26-inch inseam, sold “for petite folks”, and as capris with a 20-inch inseam, both also $98. Who it suits: a hip anywhere from 43 to 90 inches, and workouts that squat and bend.
The drawback is the feel: the listing calls the fit “True to size, tight & compressive”, so it is the wrong pair for a soft day on the sofa, and you choose a length by buying a different style rather than picking an inseam.
Superfit Hero SuperSoft Leggings
$78 Price for reference only · L to 7X · View it on the brand’s site →
The softer version: 86 percent polyester, 14 percent spandex, brushed, with a “High, no-roll waist band”, two full-size pockets and the same “Squat-proof and opaque coverage” line. The listing rates it “True to size, light compression” and sells it for yoga, lounging and travel. Pick it if firm compression is what you dislike about gym leggings.
The drawbacks: the inseam is 29 inches (stretching to 32), an inch shorter than the SuperHold, and the leggings come only in heathered black, gray and navy.
Superfit Hero SuperCool Ankle Leggings
$68 Price for reference only · L to 7X · View it on the brand’s site →
Superfit Hero’s lightest fabric, and the lowest price of the eight: 79 percent polyester, 21 percent spandex, UPF 30+ and chlorine resistant, with a “High waist band that doesn’t roll”, two full-size pockets and a 30-inch inseam that stretches to 32. The listing calls it medium compression. It suits hot weather and pool days, going by the UPF and chlorine-resistance lines.
The drawback: the fabric is described as having “a subtle sheen”, so if you want a matte finish, look at Girlfriend Collective below: all three of its listings here describe a matte finish.
Girlfriend Collective Compressive High-Rise Legging
$108 Price for reference only · XXS to 6XL · View it on the brand’s site →
The reason to pick this one is length: one listing sells a 23.75-inch 7/8, a 28-inch full length and a 31-inch tall, and the listing prints the rise as 10.25 inches on size S and 12.25 inches on XXL. The fabric is 79 percent RPET and 21 percent spandex, sold as “Sweat-wicking and sheer-proof material” and squat-proof. Who it suits: tall readers and anyone whose full-length leggings bunch at the ankle, up to a 64-inch hip.
The drawbacks: the one pocket in its description is a “Small hidden back pocket for keys or cards”, and the chart ends at the 64-inch hip of 6XL.
Girlfriend Collective Compressive Pocket Legging
$118 Price for reference only · XXS to 6XL · View it on the brand’s site →
The same fabric, the same three inseams and the same chart, with “Two deep side pockets that fit most smartphones”. The listed rise is 10.25 inches on S and 12.75 inches on XXL. Pick it over the High-Rise if you walk or run with a phone.
The drawback is the price: $10 more than the High-Rise, and the highest price of the eight.
Girlfriend Collective FLOAT Ultralight Legging
$108 Price for reference only · XXS to 6XL · View it on the brand’s site →
A lighter fabric, 90 percent RPET and 10 percent spandex, described as “Lightweight, yet substantial” with a brushed matte finish, sold as sheer-proof and quick-drying, with a small hidden back pocket. The rise is listed at 10.125 inches on S and 12.25 inches on XXL. It suits summer and anyone who finds compression fabric too hot.
The drawbacks: it comes in 23.75 and 28-inch inseams only, with no 31-inch tall; it has the lowest spandex share of the eight; and, unlike the two Compressive pairs, the listing does not call it squat-proof.
Universal Standard Next-to-Naked Pocket Legging
$96 Price for reference only · 4XS (00-0) to 4XL (38-40) · View it on the brand’s site →
A nylon workout legging, 81 percent nylon and 19 percent Lycra, with side panels and seams, deep pockets, and moisture-wicking and antimicrobial fabric listed. It comes in a 27-inch regular length or a 21-inch cropped version. It suits you if you already wear Universal Standard or think in US numeric sizes, up to a 40.
The drawback: the words squat-proof, sheer, opaque and see-through do not appear anywhere on the listing, so it makes no opacity claim either way. The version without pockets is also $96 (read 1 October 2026).
Universal Standard Roya Leggings 27 Inch
$88 Price for reference only · 4XS (00-0) to 4XL (38-40) · View it on the brand’s site →
A Pima cotton blend, 44 percent Pima cotton, 44 percent modal and 12 percent spandex, which the brand says was developed “to help prevent pilling”, with “a high waist and thick waistband that won’t roll”. The fit is listed as skimming, and a 23-inch cropped version sits next to the 27-inch regular. It suits everyday and lounge wear if cotton leggings have pilled on you before.
The drawbacks: the description names no pockets, the listing makes no opacity claim, and the care line is “Turn inside out, machine wash cold, lay flat to dry”.
How to choose
- The waistband rolls down. Start with the four pairs whose listings sell the waistband: the three Superfit Hero pairs and the Roya. Then check the size, because Superfit Hero’s advice for a rolling waistband is a size up (see below).
- They go see-through when you bend. Pick a listing that makes the claim: Girlfriend Collective’s two Compressive pairs and the FLOAT say sheer-proof, and the three Superfit Hero pairs here say “Squat-proof and opaque coverage”. The two Universal Standard listings make no such claim.
- Length. Measure your inseam with how to measure inseam, then match it: 31 inches is Girlfriend Collective’s tall; 27 to 30 inches covers the full lengths; 26 and 23.75 inches are the 7/8s; 21 and 23 inches are Universal Standard’s cropped versions; 20 inches is Superfit Hero’s capri.
- Your hip is over 64 inches. Superfit Hero, whose chart runs to a 90-inch hip at 7X; Girlfriend Collective’s chart stops at 64 inches, and Universal Standard’s labels end at a US 38-40.
- You need a phone pocket. The three Superfit Hero pairs, the Girlfriend Collective Compressive Pocket and the Universal Standard Next-to-Naked Pocket.
- Your budget is under $80. Superfit Hero’s SuperCool at $68 or SuperSoft at $78.

Before you order
- Order from the chart, not the letter. Take your hip and waist, find the row on each brand’s chart, and if they land in different sizes, Superfit Hero says to use its Size Calculator for bottoms.
- Know which way to adjust. Superfit Hero’s rule: “If you experience a rolling waistband or any see-through, we recommend trying a size up. If you experience sagging or sliding down your hips (without rolling), then you should try a size down.”
- Do a bend test indoors, in daylight, with the tags on, and read the returns page before you order, since each brand sets its own terms.
For the sizes these and other brands carry across the rest of their clothing, see plus size clothing, and the rest of the fit guides are in clothing and fit.
Where these numbers come from
The sizes, waist and hip ranges, inseams, rises, fabric contents, prices and quoted wording are copied from each brand’s product listing and size chart on 27 September 2026 (the no-pocket Next-to-Naked on 1 October 2026), in US dollars. Which problem each pair answers is our reading of what its listing claims, and “no claim” means the words were not on the page when read.
Frequently asked questions
Which plus size leggings don't roll down?
Start with the listings that sell the waistband itself: Superfit Hero's SuperHold ($98, a "Secure, no-slip and no-roll fit"), SuperSoft ($78) and SuperCool ($68), all in L to 7X, and Universal Standard's Roya ($88, a waistband "that won't roll") in 4XS to 4XL. Then check the size: Superfit Hero's own rule is to try a size up if the waistband rolls and a size down if the pair slides down without rolling.
Are plus size leggings see-through when you bend?
It depends on the pair, so pick one whose listing makes the claim. Girlfriend Collective sells its two Compressive leggings here and the FLOAT as sheer-proof, and Superfit Hero lists "Squat-proof and opaque coverage" on its SuperHold, SuperSoft and SuperCool pairs. The two Universal Standard listings here make no opacity claim either way. Whatever you buy, do a bend test in daylight before removing the tags.
What size leggings fit a 60-inch hip?
At Superfit Hero, a 3X, which its chart cuts for a 58 to 62-inch hip. At Girlfriend Collective, a 5XL, which covers 57 to 60½ inches. The letters differ by brand, so order from each brand's chart rather than the size you wear elsewhere.
